Hey everyone! It's been a while since our last blog update, but for this post I'd like to share some more about keeping in touch with Michael while I'm in school. Because of his limited communication ability, Michael doesn't fully understand why I'm not living at home anymore. That's why I decided to go to UCSD, since it's close to home and gives Michael an opportunity to transition from being away from me.
As this is my third year, Michael has transitioned so well to having me away from home. During my first year, Michael would be so butt-hurt every time he'd first see me. After about 30 minutes, he'd get over it and finally be happy (either to see me or because we enticed him a trip to the beach, who knows). Once we'd part ways, Michael would almost be in tears when he'd go back to the car and head home. Always so heartbreaking to watch.

Now, Michael seems to understand our situation better. We usually see each other every week during the school year, and typically go on an adventure to the beach. Instead of being dismal for a while, he'll usually ignore me until he knows that we're going to the beach. He absolutely loves playing with the filters on snapchat, so usually once we start taking some pictures or videos he's finally excited to visit :)
Because our swim team is currently in season and out of town for swim meets, Michael and I only see each other a couple times a month. To make it easier for him, we've got to find other ways to keep in touch. He's become really sick of phone calls, so we've turned to Skype instead. Just as in person, he's not too excited the first couple minutes of our call. But once we get past that 7 minute mark, he finally opens up and starts to laugh and smile. Since I have no idea what the future holds for me and where I'll be going to graduate school, I'd love to see Michael getting used to Skyping or phone calls.
As always, if you ever have any comments or questions, feel free to submit an entry in the Contact form. We love and appreciate all of the support we've been getting from everyone! xoxo
