Hello everyone!
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving full of great food and great company. I'm so thankful for all of you who have been following my posts about Michael, and spreading awareness regarding various disabilities. As challenging as it may be to take care of someone who's as severely impacted as Michael, I couldn't ever be more thankful for having him in my life.
Michael has an extraordinary sense of compassion for others-- he always knows when someone is upset, and oftentimes reciprocates how others behave relative to their emotions. If someone is happy, Michael will immediately have a smile on his face and laugh with them. If they're upset, he'll start pulling his hair or tapping his head in anger. If someone's sad, Michael will get upset, and sometimes even go and try and comfort the person by touching their arm. Even though he lacks the ability to speak and effectively communicate, he has an amazing sense of understanding for others.po
As for our Thanksgiving lunch (Polish people are usually bigger on lunches than dinners), Michael loved his turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, you name it. Afterwards we went on a stroll to the lakes next to our house, and Michael loved it. It's important that we take him out on walks so he gets some exercise, and Michael loves spending time outside. He loves hanging out on the bridge overlooking the lakes with all the ducks. Overall, I'm forever grateful for having Michael in my life, and especially thankful for everyone and their love and support for Michael!
