This morning we finally got to take Michael to the beach! It was such a beautiful day-- no marine layer, plenty of sun, and not too hot. Once Michael saw the water as we got onto the beach he dragged me with him all the way to the water's edge. If it weren't for me holding his hand, I don't think anything would have stopped him from checking out a bit of the water :)
We ended up laying a towel on the beach just a couple yards away from the water, and Michael just enjoyed watching the waves. He's smart enough to not run into the water, and just stays put on his towel, without ever losing his gaze towards the water. Something about the ocean just brings him so much joy and peace within. He's completely mesmerized while watching the waves constantly beating against the shore. Along with the water, I feel as though it's the calm atmosphere that really draws him in. Not many people crowd along Scripps, so it was the perfect environment for Michael, who hates loud and crowded areas. Michael was so ecstatic after our trip that he kept on almost "singing" to us in the car the whole way home. One day I'm looking forward to bring some swim trunks, and let him get his feet just a little wet so he can see what the water really is like.
