Hello hello!
Today our UCSD Swim&Dive team started off our season with our very fun, very competitive Blue and Gold meet! Gold team dominated (since we're the greatest), and Michael had a chance to stop by! Unfortunately he came right after I had finished swimming, but he loved being able to watch the meet. He was a little irritated at first, most likely since it was a little loud and he didn't like the cheering at first. But after being with him for a couple minutes, he started to really enjoy watching the swimmers in the pool (Michael's a huge fan of swimming).
Michael doesn't necessarily understand the concept of swimming-- the different strokes, races, and winning-- but he definitely reciprocates the energy around him. When other people start cheering a lot for a race, Michael can sense the high energy around him and starts giggling and enjoying the cheering (as long as he's a little far away, otherwise the screaming starts to bother him).
Today he even got to meet some of the members of the team, and he did fantastic! Michael loves when people approach him and tell him hello, and he especially loves high fives followed by some knuckles. Although he can't talk, he loves being around a group of happy, kind, and fun people.
